Parkway Storm Drain Project

The Parkway Storm Drain Project put a maintenance-intensive earthen channel underground in a concrete pipe, with an open-space neighborhood park on top. This project reduced maintenance issues as well as provided a neighborhood amenity. Water harvesting is used to water the landscaping, along with natural depressions that fill with water after rains (see After picture below). The City of Albuquerque will maintain the park and pipe. This project was completed in 2009.
