What are the goals of the project? AMAFCA and its storm water discharge co-permittees—City of Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, UNM, NMDOT—are required by the EPA to develop a Public Education component for storm water quality. Our storm water discharge permit instructs us to promote, publicize, and facilitate public reporting of the presence of illicit discharges or improper disposal of materials. Two main goals of this project are: u Reduce debris and trash in storm water discharge to the Rio Grande and u Encourage people to clean up after their pets and dispose waste properly. Fecal coliform studies indicate dog waste is a major source of bacteria in runoff. |
