District: 4 – Director Ronald D. Brown
Description: This drainage project is in response to flooding in the North Valley after the summer rains in 2006. Storm water runoff continued west on El Pueblo Road across the North Diversion Channel (NDC) to Edith. Existing drainage facilities in the drainage basin east of the NDC are either inadequate or non-existent.
A previous drainage study, prepared for AMAFCA by Smith Engineering Company, identified improvements along the Paseo del Norte / El Pueblo corridor from the NDC to Jefferson Street. This project is Phase I of the improvements and consists of a “U-shaped” channel, or open box culvert, that will extend from the NDC to approximately 150 feet to the east. Minor improvements will be made to El Pueblo Road to convey water from the roadway into the channel. Construction will last about two months.Current Status Report: In construction.
